RACHELS LESSON
FRANTIC ASSEMBLY
What is Frantic?
Frantic Assembly creates thrilling, energetic and unforgettable theatre. The company attracts new and young audiences with work that reflects contemporary culture. Vivid and dynamic, Frantic Assembly's unique physical style combines movement, design, music and text.
In today's lesson we did duets based around Frantic Assembly's Chair Duets.
We learnt about their techniques and styles used.
The chair duet is a technique used widely in their performances to enhance the abstract scenes also along with the wild and wacky music they use.
In pairs; I worked with Maisie for the duets, we did duets using our body to portray what we wanted to say.
Frantic Assembly use spins/turns just before they sit back down to make it look more like a dance routine then they just make random choreographed movements to make everything look more fluid.
Maisie and myself, found this task easy because it was a simple task but it was supposed to look complex, but the more we practiced and the more we worked out the movements, the better it looked. T
To make it easier for us to make up movements we made a story line: we were friends who had an argument and we try to make up, so having this story we could think of movements.phrases to make our story believable and make it easier for us.
We then added music Basements Jacks-Super Sonics------->
I felt adding the music made it easier to make it look like it flowed with my partner.
From here we took all the duets and made a flowing production that went from one duet to another. The way we went through each duet was; at the end of the previous duet they froze and you had to push them away but thinking of a different push for each pair. I got push forward and had to overreact massively. We did this a couple of times to get the hang of it, then finally finished and recorded them.
This technique could link into our TIE performance because it could show the change from calm to angry in just a few short movements. Also, because we have to create a teachers pack for the students at the chosen school we go to this could be a good technique to use for them to learn.
